Oct. 16, 2024
Say goodbye to the limitations of traditional hose bumpers and hello to superior protection. Dixon’s 14-SHB Series Sanitary Hose Bumper System ensures secure attachment, easy cleaning, and unmatched versatility across various industries. With a simple installation process and a patent-pending two-position design, maintaining your sanitary connections has never been easier or more reliable.
Overview
Hose bumpers are protective accessories designed to shield hose ends from physical damage during handling, usage, and storage. They act as a cushion between the hose end and any hard surfaces. Dixon’s 14-SHB Series Sanitary Hose Bumper System prevents forced detachment from the crimp stem even when dragged or dropped on the ground. The open design ensures easy access to clean all surfaces of the fitting while completely protecting the hose end.
Application
This sanitary hose bumper system meets the FDA CFR 21 standard for use in the food, beverage, dairy, winery and brewery, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries. It is also beneficial for skid systems.
Features
The 14-SHB Series Sanitary Hose Bumper System does not require any special tools or fasteners for installation. The patent-pending two-position design provides complete protection to the sanitary tri-clamp hose end and cannot be forced off the crimp stem like most traditional rubber bumpers when dragged on the ground. The bumper and sanitary crimp stem were designed together as a system to ensure optimal performance; one bumper size works with any hose diameter within a given tri-clamp hose end size.
Materials
The bumper is constructed of polypropylene with an FDA approved Sanafor PO-5 antimicrobial additive. The EPDM latch is FDA approved, as well. The crimp stem is AISI 316L.
How to Assemble
The sanitary hose bumper system can be assembled in just a few steps. The system consists of a crimp stem, bumper, and latch. The crimp ferrule is not provided in the kit. This must be selected based on the hose O.D. being used. Once the stem has been crimped onto the hose with the proper crimp ferrule the bumper is ready for assembly.
Flex the bumper around the stem in the proper orientation and secure it with the latch. The bumper cannot be pulled off the stem when the latch is installed, but it can slide back and forth from the retracted position to the extended position to protect the hose end.
To connect a hose, retract the bumper and place a gasket between the two hose ends. Clamp the connection together.
To disconnect the hose, remove the clamp and gasket and extend the bumper.
